The Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia Volubilis L.) is a native plant of the Peruvian Amazon. This plant has been used by natives for thousands of years

In Peru, it is cultivated in Madre de Dios , Huanuco, Oxapampa, San Martin, Rodriguez de Mendoza, Ucayali (Pucallpa, Contamana and Requena), Putumayo and around Iquitos. In the region of San Martin you can found Sacha Inchi along the Huallaga basin to Yurimaguas, in Alto Mayo through Cumbaza River Basin ; and areas of Lamas Province ;  especifically , in the Shanusi .

Research on Sacha Inchi

Current scientific research states that Sacha Inchi is the best oilseed for its composition and nutritional quality: Its oil is high in Omega 3 essential fatty acids (over *8%) , Omega 6 (*6%). Moreover , digestibility is very high (over *6%), antioxidants vitamin A and alpha-tocopherol vitamin E. More than *0% of the defatted almond is high quality complete protein (*9% digestible), very rich in essential and nonessential amino acids in amounts sufficient for good health.
