Ethyl *-(furan**-yl)propanoate is a reactive compound that can be used as a photooxidation sensitizer in organic synthesis. The compound is highly reactive, and has been shown to undergo oxacycles with acetonitrile. Ethyl *-(furan**-yl)propanoate also reacts with nucleophiles such as water, alcohols, and amines to form the corresponding esters.
