Phytase can break down phytic acid in feed and liberate
phosphorus.

unit of phytase activity (U) is defined as the amount of enzyme,
which liberates 1 micromole of inorganic phosphorus per minute from
5.0 mmol/L of sodium phytase solution at PH 5.5 and *7
