AMPS / ATBS Introduction

AMPS (*-Acrylamido**-methylpropane sulfonic acid) is white crystalling power,the melting point is **5°C, has a little sourness and strong hygroscopicity.

When damped, AMPS monomer will be polymerization by itself.

The aqueous solution is acidic, dissolved in Dimethyl amide and part of the prodcut is dissolved in methanol/ethanol, but is not dissolved in acetone.

3. PH value:0.1% (weight ratio) aqueous solution the PH value is 2.6, the sodium solution is neutral.

4. Stability: it is stable at room tempetature. In aqueous solution, the monomer hydrolysis is very slow. It is necessary to add inhibitor to prevent auto-agglutination. It has excellent resistance to hydrolysis under the PH value of sodium solution is over 9. Homopolymer has high thermal stability.

5. Polymerism: AMPS monomer could carry out homoplymerization and co-polymerization.The average heat of AMPS polymerization in the water is *2 kcal/mole. Water and dimethyl formamide could be take as polymerization medium.
