Copper cathode is a premium-grade refined copper product obtained through electrorefining or electrowinning processes, in which impure copper is dissolved and redeposited onto stainless steel or copper starter sheets under carefully controlled electrical conditions. The resulting cathodes typically conform to LME Grade A specifications and contain a minimum copper content of 99.99%, with extremely low levels of impurities such as sulfur, iron, lead, and oxygen.

These cathodes are produced in the form of flat rectangular plates or sheets with smooth surfaces and uniform thickness, making them easy to handle, transport, and further process. Due to their exceptional electrical and thermal conductivity, copper cathodes serve as the primary feedstock for downstream copper products, including wire rods, electrical cables, transformers, motors, printed circuit boards, copper tubes, sheets, and alloys such as brass and bronze.
